Yoga
Saturday, March 27th, 2010This morning I headed off to my 90 minute power yoga class like I do every Friday. At 9:30 there was a group of us standing outside, no teacher in sight. Recently I’ve been wondering if I actually enjoy yoga or if it has just become a habit, Wednesday, Friday, Yoga. I feel great, or good anyway, after each class. It has really helped ease the tension in my back. Is that all it’s about?
Standing in the cold rain this morning, if it was a test, was a good one. I couldn’t leave. it was like when you pick up a book at Chapters and can’t put it back on the shelf - so you buy it. I kept hoping the instructor would show up. Ten minutes later someone finally called and a few minutes more we were in class.
During my practice I decided to focused my attention on my body and mind with the question, why am I here? Every posture encouraged me to work harder and allowed me to immediatly recognize success. I found that I congratulated myself when I went deeper into a poster or tried something new.
I realized that I loved yoga. There is something to be said for stopping and smelling the roses.
